The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you. The Habits are printed in the diary each week and parents are encouraged to discuss them with their sons at home. This will be an on-going ever important facet of our education philosophy. The language and descriptions were edited to suit WHPS and the graphics and symbols for each Habit were especially designed for WHPS. It was imperative that everyone bought into the drive and felt that it was truly reflective of WHPS. What are the Habits of Mind The Habits of Mind are a set of 16 thinking skills that intelligent thinkers use to solve problems in which the answer is unknown. Time was spent making these Habits suit WHPS. The 16 Habits of Mind are the dispositions of successful people in many walks of life (Costa and Kallick, 2009). Practice 10 minutes a day of aerobic exercise, like running, jumping jacks, dancing, or swimming. Stretch for 5 minutes first thing in the morning or after your shower. If you sit much of the day, stand up from your desk every 30 minutes and do 5 minutes of movement. The 16 Habits of Mind are a framework for how to think and behave intelligently when problems are encountered and challenges are faced in life for learning and growing. These Habits are the basic building blocks for successful and effective life – long learning. Check out this list of 15 fitness habits below: 1. Leaders and employees who draw upon and model these dispositions when working with customers and clients prioritize successful behaviors. In 2015, these Habits of Mind were introduced into the academic curriculum throughout the whole school. Costa and Bena Kallick share the authentic stories and experiences of teachers who have taught these Habits of Mind (HOM) to. Habits of Mind provide the framework for developing dispositions for leaders to use when confronted with problems and situations in which the answer is not immediately apparent. The understanding and application of these 16 Habits of Mind serve to provide the boys with skills to work through real life situations that equip them to respond using awareness, thought, and intentional strategy in order to gain a positive outcome. The Habits of Mind are an identified set of 16 problem solving, life related skills, necessary to effectively operate in society and promote strategic reasoning, insightfulness, perseverance, creativity and craftsmanship.
